一位英国影评人评价时下时代剧:“Period Drama is dead. As dead as dodo”应是对本片最恰当的评价。导演期望讨好太多人群,致使思路混乱无节奏感,要突出萨松的反战,为了噱头又要对萨松的情史津津乐道。大段一战纪录片铺陈,诗歌念白让人出戏。老一代posh actor:JS,BD和皮卡完胜新生代。几位绯闻男友浮夸张扬而苍白,欧文居然与萨松跳起了贴面舞.....其他演员虽服化道光鲜,但徒有虚表字不正腔不圆,一句话:不够贵族化虽然讲的是上流社会的事情。居然给萨松安排了一位黑人神父,影片最后长镜头是萨松故作姿态扭曲的脸...总之,做为反战影片,它太轻佻;做为萨松绯闻史,它太狗血!去看看James Wilby演的萨松吧!我要去看看重生(1997)洗洗眼了!!

导演来做了Q&A,结合个人感受总结起来就是Sassoon对战争、死亡和同性恋身份的恐惧像Disabled这首诗一样贯穿了一生。他从外界如婚姻、宗教和子女上寻求救赎,但至死未成功。尽管有好演员好音乐好诗好笑话,但还是很难说这是一部易于欣赏的电影,情节安排和场景切换总显得刻意。不过Jack Lowden巨帅,读的诗里还有Anthem For the Doomed Youth,期待了一年多看到了也不算失望。吐槽一下在英gay兰抢这部片子的票也太难了,今晚座无虚席但是女性观众浓度大概低于百分之五吧
