Viktor Asliuk’s camera takes the pulse of an old village inhabited by old people. In Belarus; in the middle of nowhere. The old folk wait for the arrival of a shop-on-wheels that passes through the small community once a week with groceries and home items. Despite everything, a young couple chooses to live in the village and raise a family, living life like their parents and their parents before them. Earning Special Mentions at international film festivals, Kola is remarkable for its tongue-in-cheek humour and sensitive approach to conditions in an nearly abandoned village.
